An inquest was held to-day on the body of a child seven months old, named Harold Joseph Finlay, who died on Saturday from skin disease. Ur. Cole, in Ids evidence, said during 2 "1 years he had never seen such a terrible ulceration, the neck being one mass of sores, and other portions of the body .also being effected. Ho thought death resulted from neglect and want of medical aid. A verdict of death from natural causes was returned, with a rider censuring the lather and mother for neglect. The annual session of the Xew Zealand Baptist Union was opened this morning. The Rev. I’. H. Cornford (Napier), the President, was in the chair, and delegates from all parts of the colony attended.
