Extraordinary Hoods occurred at Williaui.stown and neighbourhood to-day. A heavy hailstorm followed b} - rain lasting over two hours, took phu-c, and the country for some distance round became Hooded. Serious damage to property is reported. The dispute between the squatters and the Shearers’ Union is spreading. A disturbance has occurred at Kingston, near Crcswiek. A number of shearers, whilst proceeding to their work, were waylaid by a party of Unionists, who prevented the non-Union men proceeding to the station, and the, police were compelled to intervene for the protection of the latter. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company’s usual weekly sale took place to-day, when a catalogue of .'SGOO hales was submitted to auction, and the competition was very spirited. The prices obtained were considered satisfactory. Light-conditioned merino was in especial good demand. Greasy lambs brought is id per lb, merino IOJd, crossbreds lOd, and scoured wools Is dial per lb.
The cricket, match, Vernon’s team versus Victoria, was continued today. The visitors’ first innings concluded for —IT runs, the individual scores being: .Stoddart 94, Abel I), Peel AT, Hates It, Heed 19, O’Hrieu 27, Ifawke dO, I'awlin 9, Newton 17, iiciuimont 4, Attewell not out 4.
