GENERAL SIR G. WHITMORE.
[by telegraph.—press association,] Wellington, Monday, Ma.ioh-Cenehal Sm George Whitmore has intimated to the Government his willingness to continue without salary in his present position of officer commanding the New Zealand forces. Sir George, it is understood, is seeking legal advice whether, if bis offer is accepted, he- will be, in a position to resume his seat as member of the Legislative Council.
