WAITOA GOLDFIELDS
Mil r. 1). Rich, of Patetere, says similar wash-dirt tu that found at Waitoa, was obtained by some of his men. He is having shafts sunk over a considerable area, embracing about 30,000 acres of the estate, the stuff from which will be forwarded to Auckland, for assay. A sample of stuff taken from ground at the rear of Mr Gabohnsy’s section at Waihou, yielded similar results to Mr Smith’s. It is proposed to form a local syndicate in Hamilton for the purpose of taking up au area of land at Waitoa for gold-mining purposes. One of thehnen at work in the main drain at Hamilton, took some stuff that was turned up close to the work and washed it ont in a dish, and obtained a fair prospect. We understand that steps are to be taken to test the land in the immediate vicinity of Hamilton.
