MURDER.

Dkamatk; circumstances were revealed in a trial for murder, which has just taken place at Nantes. A young woman, a farm servant, was found drowned in a well, near which had been left a paper, stating that she had been seduced by a young man named Bawn, and would not survive her shame. She was in fact in an advanced state of pregnancy. The investigation which followed proved the innocence of Bawn, and showed that the young woman had been thrown into th« well, after a desperate struggle, by a man named Hertand, who was known to be her lover, and who wrote the letter, falsely accusing Bawn. He has now been sentenced to 20 years’ hard labour.
