It is stippo.-ed the cause of tile accident is that some nitro-clycerine may have escaped into the tub from a cm of dynamite that was being softened on the previous day, and with which the heated pick came in contact. The injured in n were promptly attended to. Scott's injuries are not very serious, but Read is in a critical state. Hill escaped with only slight injury.
