MATAMATA RACING CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Matamata racing Club was held on the 24th inst, when the balance sheet was submitted, and showed a- balance to the credit of the chib. It was proposed by Mr Teague and seconded by Mr Johnstone that the races be held as usual, on or about the 20th December, 1887, it was also agreed to call a meeting in a month’s time, to elect officers and consider the programme. The meeting was confident that the day’s spurt would be as successful as its predecessors, it is to be hoped that all the old members will besler themselves and do what they can to make it so, for it is in these homely meetings where people will enjoy themselves; it is also a pleasant drive, for those that live at a distance as it will help to change the monotony of country life, at the time of the year when every person wants a change from honie to go somewhere to enjoy themselves.
