WAIKATO ELECTION.

TO TUB; EDITOR., Sin,—'We had one of our candidates for Waikato down here last hij'ht, and after one of his supporters going round the settlement by candle light he at last succeeded in getting five to meet him at the Royal Mail Hotel, where he addressed them on politics, and boozed them on whisky : I have no doubt they spent a very pleasant evening. He left this -morning to visit some of the settlers on the great, south road, and thence into Wairangi to meet the settlers as usual in his most informal way. I may also say that some of the electors are very diasatisfied that Mr Whyte did not call a public meeting,—Yours kc, : , ■ i CORRESPONDENT. Rangiriri, September 9th 1887. .
