[BV TELEGRAPH. —CRESS ASSOCIATION]. GREVMOUTU, Friday. Mr J. Petrie addressed the electors at Red Jacket this evening. There was a larg:; attendance. The county councillor Mr Maccarthy was in the chair. Mr Petrie was warmly received, and frequently applauded, ami a vote of full confidence was carried unanimously. DUNEDIN, Monday. The R. M. decided against the City Corporation to day, in the case where the rec-iver for the Half-way Bush District sued them for rates. The corporalion pleaded that the land in respect of which rates were claimed was not saleable property, luring used for the purpose of water worts, and that tiie court should ascertain whether the value of the improvements, exempt from rating, is included iu the valuation, bnt the objections were over ruled.
