SOCIAL AT HAMILTON.
The bachelors of Hamilton had been so good in the dancing line that the young ladies determined to give them a return, and a combined musical and dancing entertainment came off accordingly on Wednesday. The biggest “ scoffer ” of the crowd requests us to state that the catering was perfect, for which thanks are due chiefly to Miss Eva Allen, secretary. Forty Connies were present, and with dancing and singing a most enjoyable programme lasted till 5.30 a.m. The following musical selections were received with applause “ The Shepherd's Evening Song,” Misses Lees and Coombes ; “I'll Wander Back,” Miss Lees, churns bycompany ; “No, Sir!” Miss Hunter; “Flower Gatherers,” Misses Comnbes and Lees; "It I Only Knew,” Mr Harry Smith ; “ What are the Wild Waves Saying?” Miss E. Allen and Mr Comnbes ; this brought down the house; “Strangers Yet,” Miss Carthy; “ Minute Gun at Sea,” Miss Lees and Mr Harry Smith ; “ Peek-a-Boo,” Mr Comnbes: received with unbounded applause: “Death of Nelson,” Mr Handy-side; ‘‘Pierrot,” Miss Eva Allen.
