ELECTION ITEMS.
A meeting of Mr J. B. Whyte’s Hamilton committee was held in Le Quesne’s Hall on Saturday, when about twenty-five gentlemen wore present. Ananalysisoft.be roll showed that in Hamilton and the .surrounding districts Mr Whyte would poll nearly a block vote, while most satisfactory news came from all parts of the electorate. (By TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Auckland, Monday. Mr Reader Wood has finally decided to contest Waitemata against Mr Monk. Dunedin, Monday. Mr Larnaeh, while speaking at Portohello on Friday, said, not only was it the intention of the Government to severely taper off borrowing, but they also intended keeping their future spending money nearer half a million than a million per annum. The Government were absolutely sincere in their determination to effect retrenchment.
