FIRE AT CAMBRIDGE.
A BOUT 5 .viii., mi Saturday nmini npf Inst., Mr Michael Hanlon’s house, situated on the Hamilton Cambridge, road was burnt to the ground. Mr Hanlon is a milkman ; tiotli he uml Mrs Hanlon wen; milking in a shod some little distance from tin; house when the fire, occurred. They le-amed a small portion of their furniture and also their little daughter, who was very nearly suffocated by the smoke. A lighted candle was left on the mantlepiece at the time Mr and Mrs Hanlon went to milk, and it is supposed that it must have fallen to one side and caught the scrim. The honso was insured in the Equitable for £l2O. No one was there to render assistance for not even Mr John Sh irp’s household (who live tin the. opposite side of the road) knew of the fire until a friend'from Cambridge who had met Mr Hanlon called and told them.
