POLICE COURT, TE AWAMUTU.

Friday.— (Before Messrs Bockett and Rutherford, J.P.) Larceny from a Dwelling. Te Oti was brought up, charged with this offence on the 2!) th nit. He stole a cash box from the Commercial Hotel. Four or five witnesses were examined. Constable Ryan also gave evidence as to the arrest and finding of the cash box. The case having been fully proved the prisoner was sentenced to 12 months’ hard labour. The bench very warmly complimented Constable Ryan for his promptness in making the arrest and getting the offender convicted, and also for the general discharge of his duties here as constable and clerk of court. —(Own Correspondent).
