[si TELEGRAPH, —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Death of an old Colonist. Auckland, Monday Night. Henry Hardington, an old colonist, died to-day of congestion of the lungs, Capt. Scott, printer, of Vulcan Lane, also died from the same cause. Mr J. 0. Brown, and the Frozen Meat Trade. Mr J. C. Brown while at home is using his leisure in procuring information re Foreign Meat Trade, which he considers has been but poorly developed and is of opinion that instead of shipments being confined to London, the trade ought to be carried on with other parts and extended into the provinces where there is a splendid opening. Mr Brown has also been giving a lot of attention to opening up the trade with the home market in dairy produce, fruit, etc,, which ought to bo carried out with great advantage to New Zealand farmers. His idea is to bring the producer in contact with tho consumer, thus do away with enormous commissions absorbed by the middleman, who makes trade under tho present circumstances all but impossible. Death by Drowning. The dead body found in the harbour on Saturday has been identified as that of James Tindall, clerk and accountant, aged 35. He last boarded with Mrs Filluel, Hobson-street, and was unmarried. He had been in New Zealand for upwards of eight years. At the inquest to-day a verdict was returned to the effect that no evidence was adduced to show imw he got into the water. Meeting of Creditors, Mr Brassoy offered to pay 20 shillings in the £ in instalments of fire shillings each, extending over 18 months. The creditors considering such a long time ought not to be granted, rejected tho offer and invited fresh proposals. Uttering and Forging. Charles Aicken, formerly a ledger-keeper in tho Bank of Now Zealand, has been committed for trial, on the charge of uttering a forged cheque for £lia.
