AUCTIONEERS’ FEES.
TO TMK KIIITOR. Sir,— Last Tuesday tlio farmers nf tlio Waikato met at Ohanpn to consider the auctioneers’ increasing fees, but, as usual, there was a good dual of talking, but very little actual work done. It has occurred to me that if a few influential fanners wore to club together, and [mt in an auctioneer at a yearly salary, find all expenses, including auctioneers’ fees, building yards, etc., and start a business of their own, it would be very remunerative. Such an idea seriously thought about would most likely bring the auctioneers to their senses ; but if not lot it bo started. I am sure the fanners would willingly respond to any reasonable calls on their pockets to meet expenses. The auctioneers do indeed pay ns a doubtful compliment by raising the prices at this great time of depression. They must think m asleep to our own interests, and indeed the torpid state of the farmers of the Waikato calls for a general amendment.—Yours truly, Waikato Faumkr.
