The Prisoners Before the Court.
Rawene, Saturday. The prisoners wore brought up to-day. They were all arrayed in white clothing-night-gowns, sheets, etc. Seventeen were sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour from one to live months each, besides being bound over to keep the peace for periods of from one to twelve months. I doubt if securities can be obtained, and in consequence imprisonment for the terms named will ensue. Two prisoners who are badly wounded are remanded for eight days each, pending the doctor’s certificate for their being fit for trial.
