THE SCHOOLMASTER ABROAD.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Is it a usual thing for schoolmasters, who are practically civil servants, to take an “active” part in electioneering. That this is the case in these districts at the present time is certain, and I think a stop should b* put to it at once. It is not a pleasant thing to see a “ Dominie ” standing up at a public meeting, in the presence, too, of a number of his scholars, and “booing” at those who dared to question his favourite candidate. Bettor add politics to tho “syllabus'' at oner. The school committees should certainly take note of this,— I am, Sir, yours obediently, Sphinx. Cambridge, 20th July, 1887.
