MR WHYTE AT WAITOA.
Mr J. B. Whyte met the electors of Waitoa in the Waihou School-house on Monday evening. The weather was very inclement, and the meeting was therefore less numerously attended than it would have been, had the night been fine, but in spite of wind and rain, some forty persons assembled. Mr T. Taylor was voted to the chair. A hearty reception was accorded to Mr Whyte, and he was listened to with marked attention, while expounding his views on the leading political questions of the day. His opinions have been so frequently expressed, and are now so well known that it is almost unnecessary to recapituate them here. From the frequent marks of approval during his address it was evident that a large proportion of the audience were in accord with the speaker on most of the subjects touched upon. At the close, a vote of thanks and confidence in Mr Whyte, was proposed by Mr John Wood, and seconded by Mr Reuben Parr, and on the motion being put to the meeting it was carried unanimously. Mr Whyte intimated that he hoped to be able to address the Waitoa electors again prior to the day of the election. A vote of thanks to the chair brought the meeting to a close.
