Alajor Atkinson obtained a vote of thank* at Aluuaia. on Saturday evening. The meeting lasted till about midnight. TO THE EIHTOR. Sip.,—l have frequently observed in notices with reference to the candidature of Mr G. \V. Bussell allusions to his poimlarity at Te Aroha. Allow me. Sir, to assure. the elector- of Waikato that deep regret i-universally expressed at our separation from Waikato, and at the fact that we are. deprived ..f the opportunity of assisting in returning Air J. B. Whyte to Parliament. Te Aroha owes a debt of gratitude to its late member, and the electors, with a »ety few exceptions, were de.-ii-mis of testifying to the great value of Air Whyte'-? -• nice- by recording their votes in his favour. True, a few electors -led by a person who i-ccas-ionally presumes to quote himself as the 1-ader of public opinion here, and is known to bo in constant communication with the Premier—did welcome Air (tu—ell during hi- visit here to deliver a lecture mi In-half of our public library, but Hi farth'-r recognition of Air Bussell took place. To Ai '-ii i well knows that the election of Air Whyte will give this district an extra member, eonse pu-ntly an intense desire exists that his candidature lie successful.—Yours tiuly, IILKtTOIU
