TAOTAOROA ROAD BOARD.
Thk above board met at Cambridge on Saturday. Present ; Messrs Hunt (Chairman), and H. R. and C. M. Jjrnnskill. The chairman reiiurted that Wattam had repaired his section of the Matamata road, but said it was very little use now, it ought to have been done in the dry weather. The rates collected up to Juno 30th, were t'2oo 7s od, upon which the board will receive a subsidy of one half, the other half going to the county council. It was resolved to dispense with the services of the surfaceman, his contract time having expired ; and the chairman was authorised to employ labour when he thought it necessary. The side of the ravine at the gorge having been washed away, the engineer reported upon it as follows “ Re ravine at the Gorge road. The only thing 1 can recommend is that the board get 200 or 300 fascines made and laid above and below the bad drop. Oct them well staked down, and put in a spoilt or shoot (corrugated iron) to take the waterwell over the Prow on to the fascines below.” R. Wattam said he would supply fascines at Kis per 100. He was instructed to got 400 and make good the place to the .satisfaction of the chairman. The engineer was instructed to write to the Piako County Council, drawing attention to the

A c“rtain amount has been expended upon the road, the bridge* having been and the main cost remaining would be the fencing. Two small accounts were passed, and the meeting closed.
