Hamilton v. Huntly.
The first football mate!) this season between the above teams will be played on Saturday next at Huntly. It will be remembered that when Cambridge and Huntly met they made a draw, and Hamilton and Cambridge have had a draw, so the match on Saturday ought to be very closely contested if the Hamilton team can be persuaded to roll up in its full strength. It is a rule with some of the Hamilton players to promise to go up to the last minute, and then not turn up. When asked for an explanation they say “I couldn’t get a horse,” or some other equally lame excuse, but next Saturday they will not be able to bring forward not having means of going, as the train suits admirably both in the going and returning, and it is hoped that they will all roll up and not let their colours he lowered. The Hamilton team will he picked from the following : —Messrs Bindon, Beale, Biggs, Box, Gribble, Gwynne, Guird, Hinton, Hammond, Hopkins, Jolly, Lawson, Manktelow, McSweeney, Odium, Uswald, Pilling, Stevens and Steele.
