ENGLISH ELECTION NEWS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—COPYRIGHT.] (lIECTEU’S TELEGRAMS.) Received July 11th, 12.20. p.m. London, July 10. The election for the Coventry seat, vacant by the elevation of Mr Eaton, Conservative, t > the peerage, took place yesterday, and resulted in the return of Mr Vallantino, a supporter, of Mr Gladstone by a majority of 10, over Colonel H. F. Eaton, conservative. Mr Bolitho, Unionist, has been elected without opposition for St Ives division, replacing Sir .1. St. Aubyn, recently raised to the peerage. A vacancy has occurred in the representation of Glasgow, Brighton division, owing to the resignation of Mr Russell, Home Ruler. Sir G. Trevelyan is the Gladstonian candidate for the seat. Mr John G. Hubbard, M.P. for London, has been raised to the peerage.
