TAUWHARE.

Tauwhare settlers seem alive to the importance attached to the coming elections. It is rumoured that both candidates for Waikato intend to visit ns. If they do I think I may promise that tho inhabitants will “ roll up.” Both gentlemen have supporters out here, and if a vote or two is of consideration it may be worth their while to show np. I am glad to say that at last we have got the harmonium, for which several concerts, etc., etc., have been given. It has been a long time coming, but I think tho committee acted wisely in determining not to get the instrument until they could pay cash down for it. Something over two hundred trees are about to bo planted in the school ground. These will greatly improve the appearance of the school as it stands on the flat and the only shelter at present being the wire fence around the playground and paddock. Thanks to tho road board, we do not require the punt on the flat this winter, but at Whyte’s Bridge tho water was up to the horse’s girth for two days. That makes a road very dangerous, especially at night time, as it is difficult to keep out of the drains on both sides of the'road when they cannot be seen. We hope to see an alteration there shortly.—(Correspondent).
