At the special meeting of the Town Board held on Saturday, for the purpose of considering the question of striking a rate, an,d to frame a code of bye-laws, there was a lengthened sitting, but comparatively little business was done. Several motions were put and rejected, or were lost by. not finding a seconder, and it was eventually resolved to let the further consideration of tho matter standover till., the"monthly meeting "in July, in order to give time for the; framing of bye-laws and standing orders. It was also resolved, owing to the length of time occupied by the discussion of tho previous subject, not to proceed with the other part of: the business, and.on the motion of the chairman seconded by, Mr, M. Hotchin, Messrs Frazer, Dobspn, . Corties, and the clerk were appointed, a ; sub-committee, to, frame the bye-laws, and to submit the saine'' for approval at next meeting of the board. Since the formation of the congregation you have had the musical part of the service under your special charge, arid the heartiness which has characterised -our services has been very, much owing to your exertions. You have.'also-taken a very - prominent and- zealous part in the .erection of our church, and it must be a. source of great satisfaction to you .to see how abundantly.ybur efforts have ibeen blessed in the present flourishing condition of S. Mark's congregation. We also desii-e, to thank Mrs Burgess most heartily.for the Zealand energy with which she has seconded your efforts to improve the church choir. And while we cannot but regret that the tie which has united us for so many years is now to be severed, we sincerely trust that the change you are about to make will be for the benefit of yourself and family : and you may rest assured that you take with you our best wishes for your future happiness. We remain, dear Mr Burgess, your sincere friends, James Marshall '• M. A. C. Ahier,- chureh'- ; warden : C. S. Pyne, W. Emerson, J. A. Dobson, W. H. P. Marsdun, J. B. Heathcote, vestrymen. Owing to the uncertainty. regarding the date of; Mr Burgess' departure the address was not presented to him in a complete state. It has yet to be illuminated and framed, and will be forwarded to him at his destination in the South. Apart from church matters, Mr Burgess will be much missed, from amongst us, for in everything relating to music and in all manly out-of-door exercises he has always taken a prominent part. It need not be said, that during his long residence here he has made many friends, by whom his departure is sincerely regretted. .
