TION. Return of Mr Barton. Yesterday was the day fixed for receiving the nominations of candidates for the office of Mayor of Hamilton, vice Mr W. A. Grahain, resigned. Two nominations ivere received, namely that of Mr 0. J. W. Barton nominated by Messrs P. LeQuesne and Tlios.' Jones, and that of Mr E. L. .Smith, nominated ■by Messrs S. Davis and James Coombcs. The last named was however found to be informal, as Mr Ooombes vvas not on the roll, and the returning officer, Mr Gelling, accordingly declared Mr Barton to have been duly elected.
