Manuscript of Burns.

The sale of the interesting Scottish manuscripts chiefly belonging to tho GibsonGraig collection was commenced on Mo iday at ; Do well's' Rooms, George-Street, Edinburgh.. The, m-inilscripts include original' papers of Burns arid Allan Ramsay. A good number of dealers were present, several'' being /from Glasgow. Th'e'K'iirl'of Mar and'Kellie was amohgtit the company. ..One of the largest prices was : a'hcaiu'n.l' for trie ' original- , ; ninii'uscript of " The Whistle" (Burns), • which extended to two and a half pages folio, andwhich belonged to another property. Bidding opened at 10 guineas, but the' lumiuer did not 'fall■ init.il 'I'M) guineas had buen uflerel, Mr Qarfrae, Edinburgh, was the purchaser.; Trie manuscript was knocked down to lii-n amid applause. Ho was also the purchaser, ;it £51 10s—the upset vru:e--(if :: a collection ■ of' Burns' manuscripts mid other documents relating to the poet made by Mr Thomas H. Crorr.ek (sou of the author of the " Reliqnes.') The collection, which was bound in one volume, vial which also belonged to another property, inaluded a letter from Burns to William.Nicol, dated 9th February, 1770, and opening. an follows:—"My dear sir, that d—mii'd mare of yours is dead;" A diary kept during Bums' Highland tour brought 20 guinea o . Eight pipers of Clarinda correspondence brought iu all 88 guineas.
