THE PLACE FOR MARRIAGE ABLE GIRLS.
THJSR.E oonies an j appeal from Pelta, Washington Territory,., which .ought to touch,,the, '. ge ; ntle, .laving hearts. of,. tbe girls. ~.TJbreev y o!ung'in,eri write from the furthest 'encl of jthe.jwneat belt that, there is a great drought 'pf girls there. .Tjfie young men th'ere tirpi aaid.to, r bo reasqnably wej.l, ..to dp, aritj-i of the '; marryjng. kind. We got tliis impression from a statement that the,one solitary- fair Catrina of their " district "has received eighty separate and, distinct proposals of marriage withiu two.months.;. Every, the district has offVred, her his hand and bus been refused. . We do npt know why 'she should' refuse the whole eighty unless she did not wish to be regarded, as discrimin : ating agninst any one. At the same time of writing three more ! girls, had arrived, but, among eighty men, all'of whom are ready to marry, these will not supply the ' demand. If the society is satisfactory, a matter'"upon which wo are not informed, we should regard Delta as an excellent j place for ladies on matrimony beut.
