WELLINGTON, Tuesday,
A Chinaman, named Thomas Lee, and a woman named Jane Perreau, were charged to-day with stealing a quantity of clothing, the property of Frederick tVrreau, fisherman, of Foxton. The case was one of elopement, and the woman was advised to return to her husband, but positively refused. The case was remanded, and it is understood that the charge against the female prisoner will be withdraw]).
. GISBORNE, Wednesday. The cutter Spitfire has arrived safely from Nelson.
The launch Snark went to the scene of the wreck of the steamer Sir Donald yesterday, and recovered the masts and rigtting. Lashed to the mast was the no-.e of a boat, so the crew had not time to launch the boat when the disaster occurred. No bodies have yet been recovered. The rest of the hull of the vessel has not been found.
