French emigrants complain of tlto deception which, has been practised to induce them to leave France, and say that the glowing accounts published by the Colonisation Society as to the facilities of obtaining a livelihood are all false, and that they "were practically slaves. They have petitioned to be returned to Franco immediately. The climate is said to be terribly unhealthy, and already half of tlnl immigrants have perished from fever and other causes.
