A MARTYR TO THE CAUSE OF THE FAMILY.

The fate of one White, who was shot on Sunday iu West Virginia by a man whom he wax trying to lynch, was very curious. White was summoned from home to hi,brother's at some distanco by a telegram announcing the death of his mother. When he reached the house, however, he fouud a lynching party was being organised to lynch a certain Miller for adultery, It does not appear ttiat White knew either Miller or his paramour, but his interest in the mainceuanco of domestic purity seems to have bten so strong that he forgot his grief for his deceased parent, iu his desire to punish Miller, and joined the lynchers. Miller had, however, been forewarned, and was forearmed, and when the lynchers appeared at his door, brought a double-barrelled shotgun to bear on lliem, and reque tol them to desist. White, however, si.ill suppress! 11;; his grief for his mother, gallantly urged them to the charge, and was' shot dead io the advance, a martyr—if ever there was one—to the cause of the family. The other lynchers are searching for Miller with the view of hanging him, but ; keeps out of the way, whilo poor White is to bo buried beside his mother.—New York Nation.
