FIDELITY OF A DOG.
A X'RIVATH letter from Naples contains the following interesting story : —lf you litee dogs you will be pieased with the aunexed At Ceriano a poor fellow who got his living by hawking milk was buried under the ruins of his cottage a little way out of town. As he usually set off on his rounds before 4 a.m. everyone believed he was safe; bnt he, too, had celebrated the end of Carnival by taking a little wine, and had slept late. His largo dog, which used to drag the milk cart up the mountain roads, smelt out his master, and began to scratch
away the rubbish until he had laid his master's head bare, which was covered with wounds. Then tho dog began to lick the wounds, but finding that the bleeding continued, and comprehending he could not dig further, ho ran off and
seized by the coat the first individual he met, who, thinking the dog was mad, got loose and ran away. Bat a second person, guessing what tho animal wanted, followed him, and consequently the poor milkman was released from his dangerous position. The Minister Genala paid him a visit, and fouud him with his head bound up, under a teut, with tho faithful dog lying beside him.
