Kihikihi v. Paterangi. A match between the above clubs was played at Kihikihi on Saturday last, and resulted, after a very pleasant match, in a victory for Paterangi. Case s batting for Kihikihi, and the bowling of Crookes and McFarlane for Paterangi were the chief items worthy of note. This being the closing match of the season for both clubs, it had been determined to have rather more than the usual spread, consequently quite a banquet was held at Mr Bond's Star Hotel, to which the teams, along with a few friends, sat down. After the cloth had been removed Mr Bond, captain of the Kihikihi team, took the chair, and Mr Rigg the vice-chair, and the evening was spent in a most convivial manner. Songs were sung by the following gentlemen : — Messrs Buckworth, Case, Rigg, Meadway, Walton and Weatherill. The Kihikihi team have been fairly successful this season, considering that not an hour's practice has been had. They played nine matches —won four, lost three, and two were drawn. It is understood that a football club will be formed from the joint teams, to be called the "Frontier Football Club."—(Correspondent.)
