Ohinemuri Races. [BY TKLEGItAPH. —OWN COKUKSPONHUNT.] I'aehoa, Thursday. The Ohinemuri Jockey Club's annual race meeting came off to-day. Q.he weather was all that could be desired, and there was an attendance of about 100 people on the course, which was in splendid condition. The totalisator dividends were so small as not to be worth chronicling. The following were the results Settlers'. Plate Handicap of lOsovs. Hmiies. For local horses only. Mr Dickev's Volunteer, Gs slbs (Hatton) 1 Mr Butler's Barney, 7st 21bs (Douglas) 2 Mr Corues' Sheet Anchor, Ssfc 21bs (Bradley Sheet Anchor assumed the lead from the start, but was soon overhauled by Volunteer, who finished an easy winner. Handicap Hukulks of 2."w»vs. 2 miles ; over S flights of hurdles. Mr Dickey's Recruit;, list (Munm) .. 1 Mr Dickey's Flora (Dickson) 2 Only two started, and as both belonged to the same owner the race, winch was very tame, finished as above. Hack Hurdlks of 10.h-.vs. 2 miles ; over b flights of hurdles. Mr Howarad's Company, lOst 81bs (Native) 1 Mr Dickey's Kate, 10 U; 12!).h (Monro) .. 2 Mr Quinlivan's Bother'eni, lis; (Diver) 3 Kate led from the fall of -.lie flag, but baulked at the seventh hurdle, and Company was landed an casv" winner in consequence. The owner of Kate lodged test against the money Iv-Mug paid to Company, oil the ground that, his horse was crossed contrary to the Jockey Club rules, and the protest will be considered to-mor-row. Ohinemuiu Jookhy Cluh Handicap of 30sovs. Two miles. Mr Brown's Pretender, 9st. (D -dd) ... 1 Mr Butler's Barney, Gst. 51b*. (Hutton) 2 Mr Conies' Sheet Anchor, 7st. 51bs. (Bradley) - - 3 Pretender went away with a. strong lead, which he maintained to the finish, winning hands down. 1"ony Race of osovs., lw- mnes. Mr Dickey's Mayflower won this event very easily. Mr Cootes' Maori King' bolted on the first round, which put hi.n out of the race. Three others competed, but were outpaced from the start. Consolation Race Handicap, of 10 sovs. 1 mile. For this event Barney (Gib. 31bs), Flora (7-sfc.), Sheet Anchor (Sst.) were entered, but the owner of the last mentioned horse refused to accept, inasmuch as he considered that the handicappers had favoured Barney, who was let in somewhat light. A considerable amount of tall talk ensued, and eventually Barney weighed out, covered the specified distance alone, and his owner claimed the money, which he will very probably get after the stewards meet to-morrow.
