OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the council was held on Saturday. Mr Edwards wrote, claiming £i 13s Gd for completing roll.—Received. Mr Alex. Hogg wrote re £100 subsidy for the connection of the Monastery mine with Railey's plant, Karangahake.—Referred to the board of works.

Mr A. Bowler wvote re the construction of the Waitoa lower drain.—The road engineer reported that the contract was being proceeded with. Mr S. Greejihallo wrote, requesting a road to be made to his claim, the " Me and Rowe," at Owharoa, for the purpose of carting quartz to Railey's mill. —Two men were ordered to be put on under the superintendence of Or. Corbett. £5 was granted for Waitiwhata bridge repairs, and £5 for repairs to same tat the Tui Creek mines track. The Colonial Treasurer reported that an advance of £1000 was available to the council to pay thi) first moiety of the award under section 22 of the Counties Act, IS7O, by Mr Fitzgerald, the Auditor-U-eneral. Subsidies were reported as available as under:— £200, Railey's tramway; £350, Karangahake track extension ; £ioo, tramway connection at Waihi. A number of applications were received for the position of clerk, treasurer, and collector of rates to the county. Mr Xepean Kenny, of the Thames, was filially elected at a salary of £llio per annum. This gentleman's appointment is regarded as The chairman refused to give the names of the other applicants to the Press. The council then ad;ov.raed to 2nd April.
