«. [by telegraph—own correspondent.] Alleged Arson. Auckland, Monday. At the Police Court, John Henry Stubbs was remanded on a charge of attempted arson at the North Shore. The defendant declared that the fire originated through the explosion of a kerosene lamp. Miranda Coal Company. The annual meeting of the shareholders' of the Miranda Coal Company was held in the office of Mr Joseph Barber, Victoria Arcade, this afternoon, Mr Barstow presiding. The directors reported that the preliminaries for working: the mine had been provided, and the coal so far had -proved hard and clean and likely to make a good per centage of large coal. The manager expressed a hope that in a few weeks they would have coal ready fov the market, and saw no reason why the mine should not turn out a great success. The question of ventilating: would have to be dealt with forthwithThe report was adopted. Mining. Cambrias changed hands to-day at 4s aad ss.
