HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID.

The following letters have been handed to for publication.

Premier's Office, Wellington. 15th February, 1887. Sin,—l have the honour, by direction of the Premier, to inform v>u that in future no deduction under the "Hospital and Charitable Aid Institution Act, 1887," will be made from any payment due by Government to a local body, except on the application of the board to the Colonial Treasurer (sec. 20) which must set forth (sec. 28) that the local body has for a month neglected or refused to pay its contribution demanded by the board, and which should also (to satisfy the conditions of sec. 25) state that no appeal by the local board is pending I am accordingly to request that should your board wish a deducation made under sec. 29 from subsidy, &c, payable to a local body, a statement to the above effect may be furnished to the Colonial Treasurer. —I have the honour to be, Sir, your obedient servant, R.
