February. 17. Sir Henry Ponsonby, the Queen's Secretary, has written a letter to the Mayor of Bradford, assuring him that the establishment of the Imperial Institute is specially pleasing to Her Majesty. In the House of Commons tonight, the Radical party will raise a debate on the question of the alleged packing of the jury in the trial for conspiracy of John Dillonand others, which is now proceding in Dublin. Berlin February 16. The action of the Pope in seeking to influence the elections for the Reichstag has caused a split among the members of the Centre Parliamentary party. A manifesto has been issued by Prince Hohenlohe appealing to the electors of Alsace and Lorraine to return Government supporters and officials to the Reichstag.
