In the House of Commons yesterday Mr Oremer's amendment to the Address-in-Reply, proposing the immediate evacuation of Egypt, was rejected by a majority of lb'i> votes. In the course of the debate Sir J. Fergusson, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, stated that it was impossible for the British Government to withdraw their troops from Egypt until their responsibilities with regard to the country had been accomplished.
