[rkuter's telegrams.] London, January 7. An additional 30,000 feet of space is needed to supply all the applicants for the J übilee Exhibition. The British collection of pictures for the Adelaide Jubilee Exhibition includes t>s large oil paintings, 53 water colour, and many photographs. The selection has been approved by Sir E. Leighton, President of the Royal Academy, and Sir John Giloert, President of the Society of Painters in Water Colours. Mr Buchanan, in a letter to The Times, predicts a speedy renewal of prosperity in New South Wales. Forty thousand sovereigns have been withdrawn for Australia, and more will probably follow. The Queen's Jubilee will be celebrated in Indiain February. The Abyssinia will be the last emigrant ship to Sydney, and she takes over 100 domestic servants. Messrs Thompson, Shannon, and Co., warehousemen, Wellington, offer their creditors 15s in the £, payable over a period of twenty months. The offer will probably be accepted. Mr John Buchanan, of New South Wales, is lecturing on the emigration and labour question, Speaking of the unemployed in Sydney, he said many were loafers, who did not want work, and he contended that there was room in Australia for one hundred millions of people. He referred to the thousand* of pounds remitted from New South Wales to England to bring out friends. The principles of fair trade would, he argued, be acceptable to the colonies. Eight emigrants who had returned from Australia, declaring they were starved in Auttralia, attempted to address the asbut were x-efnsed a hearing, and one was ejected from the platform. The meeting broke up in disorder. Australian greasy merino fleece wool is being sold privately at an advance of halfpenny to three farthings on last sales closing rates. A Press Association message says:— 1500 bales of wool have been sold at an average of a halfpenny to three farthings on the closing rates of last sales. Prince Alexander, of Battenbmv, exPrince of Bulgaria, will shortly proceed on a long tour, during which he will visit Egypt. This has been decided upon with a view of putting an end to the reports regarding his future intentions.
