THE SMALL-POX IN AUSTRALIA.

Three fresh cases of small-pox aru reported from the quarantine station, making in all fifty well-defined cases now in various stages. Melbourne, January 4. A reward is offered for the arrest of the engineer of the Preussen, who is stated t> have been seen at various places about Melbourne. The majority of tho small-pox cases are mild, but three are pronounced as likely t< prove fatal. Five additional cases are reported to-day. The actual number of small-pox cases at the quarantine station i.s seventeen, onlv three being considered dangerous. The doctors do not expect any further development of tho epidemic. (Rcceivod [anuary sth, 1 10 p.m.) Sydney, Wednesday. Eight fresh cases of small-pox are reported. The quarantine grounds are being enlarged to meet the extra requirements of the outbreak.
