HAMILTON DOMAIN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above board was held last night at the council chambers. Present: Messrs Knox (in the chair), Jones, Barton, Yon Stunner, Tippen, Uey, Edgecmnbe, Bell, and Scott. Dixon and Crawfords Contract.— The solicitor's opinion was read, stating that one partners' signature was sufficient to a receipt and bound his partner. The cheque was ordered to be paid to Dixon or Crawford on application. Borough Endowments. —A letter was read from the Colonial Secretary, stating that no more lands could be vested in the board. — The Clerk was instructed to write for specific information re lands still held by Government, and for what purposes they were reserved. Oi'KNiNG of Road.— Letter from Mr J. B. Whyte, requesting fencing of road up to Mr Jolly's fence, as they were about to open a road through Mr Jolly's land to Frankton direct from Hill-street ; also suggesting that the spare land on the E.^t side near the bridge should be planted, so as to improve the appearance of the town generally. — It was agreed to refer the matter to the Improvement Committee with power to act. Mr Xorthcroft. -letter stating th.it he owned no land in Hamilton, and that the fence shifted had baeu moved by Mr J. D. Hill, whose agent was Mr W. M. Hay. Lettpr referred to the borough council, the land in question being borough endowment. I Mr Northcroft declined fiuthcr correspondence on the matter. Boat Shed.— Letter from Mr Carter, asking for improvements to boat hhed approach on domain land— Referred to the Improvement Committee with power to act. Spouts Commit tec — Letter from Secretary Sport* Committee, asking for leave to use about 90 posts for sports, and to erect fencing on Sydney Square, posts to be returned, and square properly fixed after | sports were over. It was agreed to lend the posts. Sale of Leaseholds.— The secretary reported that certain domain lots had been leased by public auction. Report received and adopted. Hamilton East Commonage.— The committee appointed to roport on the alteration of fence to enable cattle to get to the water, recommended that the fence be altered.— Agreed to. Park Reserve.— The utilisation of this reserve was considered, and it was resolved to allow cattle in on the same terms as to commonagos, viz., Od per head per month. Grass Paddocks, Hamilton West.— Mr Yon Stunner moved that the fees for grazing in grass paddocks lots No. 19 and 20, Hamilton West, be lowered to Is (id per week for horses and Is for cow*. Seoonded by Mr Bell. Cr. Barton proposed as an amendment that it be thrown open on the same terms as the other commonages, viz., <5d per month. Seconded by Mr EdKecumbe. For the amendment there voted Messrs Barton and Edgecumbe, and against it Messrs Jones, Yon Stunner, Bell, Scott, Tippen, Dey and the Chairman. For the resolution nil voted, and it was carried unanimously. Galloway-street Rivskk^k.-— Mr Yon Stunner suggested that calves he turned in to eat clown the young fern, and moved in jbljat direction. It was agreed to allow

cattlo (not lioi>ws) in at (id per hoad per month, for tho present. BttOKKN' Fknok.— Mr B.>ll reported that tho dividing fence at lota No. 19 and 20 was down, and likely to injure hordes if n«»t removed. — It was resolved to remove the broken-down fence, and repair the outside boundary fences with the material, tho Improvement Committee to see to the matter. It was resolved that Mr Tippen bo chairman of the Han.ilton Raxt Improvement Committee, and Mr Edgecumbo of the West. It was resolved to call for tenders for painting all the domain nnd commonage gates, and the engineer w.is instructed to prepare specifications for doing the .same at once. The Finance Committee having examined the accounts presented, leportrd them an correct, and they were passed for payment. The engineer's report was read and adopted. The clerk was instructed to write re lots 8, 9 and 10, Hamilton West. Domain, and enquire from the Crown Lands Department when they could be handed over to the board, as it was desirable to doal with them. It was resolved, on the recommendation of the engineer, to so fence the Domain Road West that cattlo could not get into and destroy the drain recently finished. Messrs Yon Stunnet, Edgecumbe and Tippen were appointed a committee to go into the matter of the expenditure of the £1000 for Hamilton East, nnd present the account at the next meeting. Tho board then adjourned.
