London, December 13. Sin Arthur Blyth has received inquiries regarding the mining regulations in force in the northern territory of Australia. These inquiries are made with the object of ascer tain ing whether they are favourable to the establishment of mining companies. Two six-inch guns for the South Australianjjovernment are on board the ship Mangalore, which has put back through damage in a hurricane. The Standard states that the British force of occupation in Egypt will be greatly reduced in April next. The ship Mangalore, which returned to London, having been severely damaged during a hurricane, was bound for Adelaide. The homeward Australian mails, dated Melbourne, November 4, were delivered in London to-day via Brindisi.

The Agents-General consider it improbable that tho Prince and Princess of Wales will accept the invitation of the Victorian Government to \isit Melbourne for the inaugural ceremony in connection with the Centennial Exhibition of 1888.
