auckland live stock maukets. Messrs Hunter and Nolans Weekly Report.— Horses : There has been a continu< us large supply, and although the demand has been good, it could hardly keep pace with the former, and some fine young hordes were held over for next week. The Durham yards on Friday were again overcrowded, but a good many changed hands at fully the previous week's values, but for some a decline had to be submitted to. We quote hacks at from £4 10s to £5 10s ; light harness horses, £10 10s to £15 ; strong horses for quick draught, £17 to £23. Hides and skins : Hides were tolerably plentiful. The demand for heavy hides was brisk, but not so good for lighter ones. We quote hides at 4d to 4^d per lb ; cow hides, 2^ to 3\; calf skins 4Vd. Skins plentiful: over 2000 sold at from 2s 2d to ss. Wool : The second sale of the series was held at the Durham wool store. Some 335 packages were disposed of, and notwithstanding the discouraging telegrams from London, prices for crossbreds and merinos were sustained, but there was a decline of a halfpenny per lb. on inferior long wools, and, with the exception of one or two lots, a decline of par lb. throughout the sale was submitted to, taking quality and condition into consideration. Long wool sold at from G.\ to 7} ; crossbred, at from 6,4 to 7j ; merino, 8d to B^. Cattle : There has been a large supply, but the demand has been slack for most descriptions, so that with difficulty tho previous week's, values were sustained. The Newmarket yards on Tuesday were well supplied with stores, as were also the JPukekohe yards on Wednesday. Dairy cows were not quite so plentiful as on the previous week, and fat beasts were in adequate numbers, and sold .at from ir» s to 10s per 1001b ; grown steers, £3 17s Gd to ±M 10?; eighteen-month -old, £2 5s to £3 10s ; yearling-, 20^ to 2fs Gd ; dry cows, 3.")» to £2 each. Sheep: The maiket has been rather bare owing to the absence of bhipborne, and prices advanced considerably on the previous week's values. No heavy wethers were yarded, 13s 3d being the highest price reached for wethers ; l.s 9d per 81b was freely given. Ewes sold at from lb 4d to Is Gd per 81b. Lambs in adequate number, and sold at from o3o 3 to 12s each. Pigs were in moderate supply, but prices were in favour of the purchaser, good porkers having sold at 2jd per lb live weight. Mu Alfred Buokland's Weekly Reroitr.— At the Haymarket sale on Friday, December 3, meadow hay was at low values; oaten sheaves brought 3s Gd the cwt. Horse stock remained at late values : Useful medium draught, three and four years old, from #> to £l~> each ; no enquiry for hea\ y draught. At the hide and .skin sale on Tuesday, there was a full attendance of buyers. Hides ranged with cleanliness and general condition from 2V-1 to 4^d the lb ; tallow, 12s 6d the cwt ; sheepskins, 2s to 4s 10J each. At Waiuku on Saturday, cattle were mustered in full numbers. There was a numerous attendance of settler-*, and a good demand for all stock brought forward. At Remuera on Thursday, dairy cattle were in limited number and better inquiry. Store cattle, in usu \l number, sold freely at late values. Fat cattle, in average supply, scarcely maintained last week's values. Sheep, very plentiful, fully maintained the rise of last week, particularly wethers. Lambs, in moderate number, also maintained their price. Pigs, in full number, generally well-brei, were uniformly at lower prices than of late.
