TE AWAMUTU NEWS.

A MKrcriNtt of those interested in the horticultural society was held on Wednehday evening in the Public Hall. On the motion of Majoi Jackson, Mr Walton was voted to the chair. The Chairman read a copy of the po&tcard notices, calling the meeting. After explaining that the object of having the meeting was to elect committees to make arrangements for holding the forthcoming show at Te Awamutu, he .said the first business was to elect a local committee. On the motion of Mr Wright, seconded by the Rev. R. G. Boler, the old committee, consisting of Major Jackson, Messrs Walton, Bertram, Moody and Johns were reelected. A strong show committee was then elected, the following gentlemen being nominated: — Revs. R. G. Boler, J. J. Mather, and B. Hutson, Colonel Smith, Messrs Sorby, Walton, Ryburn, Gresham, Cottrell, Taylor, J. G. Elm>ly, We^tney, Rutherford, Rigg, J. H. Scott, J. W. Bridgman, Teasdale, Ahier, Andrew, I<\ R. Gibson, Wright, J. W. Ellis, Cwley, Roffey, G. D. Hunter, and the members of the local committee, with power to add. The show committee is to meet at 7.30 p.m. on Monday, when a sub committee will be appointed to make arrangements, the suhconnnittee to report at a future meeting of the whole, and if the meeting approve such arrangements will be carried out. The township was represented by .seven and other districts by three people, so some idea can be conveyed of the absorbing and over-powering interest taken in the show by tho people of this district. As only a few of those nominated to tho Show Committae \rero present, they have been communicated with, and requested to reply as to whothor they would bo willing to act. I'eople \\ttQ aro very aiuioiw to hear the

Fisk Jubilee Singeis. If they would pay this town and Kiliikilii a visit thoy would get large audiences, as several here, who nave heard them, spenk very highly of them, and would certainly go to hear them ngain. — (Own Correspondent. )
