WAIKATO HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A m<\er\l meeting of the members of the society was held at the Hamilton Borough Chambers yesteid.iv morning. There were present : Mes.srs W. A. Graham (in the chair), J. Knox, T. G. Sandes, W. M. Hay, L. O'Neill, G. Mason, J. Sharp, J. Walton, J. Gwj-nneth, J. J. Barugh, Yon Stunner, S. E. G-. Smith, G. Edgecumbe, Vincent and J. M. Gelling. The Nk\t Si'ow. — Mr Knox nio\ed and Mr Barugh seconded that the next show be held at Te Awamutu. This was carried unanimously. Accounts.— The Treasurer's statement up to Septembei 30lh was read as follows : — To balance in hand last statement £24 10s lOd. To cash, surplus from the Cambridge show, fil» fls. Total, £44 Is lOd. By payment to Wells and Co. £11, leaving a credit balance of £33 Is lOd. — The Secretary (Mr G. Eigocumbo) said there was aho a considerable quantity or material in hand, consisting of ulates, etc. He said the result was most inatifying. He also dwelt on the pie ising circumstances that the whole Waikato had gone into the piojectso heartily. A Watkvto Exhibit for Auckland.— On the m >tion of Mr Sande«, who spoke <it homo length on the desirability of assert ing the Waikato in Auckland, it was resolved that the choice exhibits of fruit .shown in the Waikato be sent by the association for exhibition in the Auckland show which U to be h^ld shortly after that at To Awainutn. This lesolution was seconded by Mr Sharp. Thk Tk Awamltu Show.— Mr Walton, on behalf of the Te Awamutu section of the association, expressed his gratification at the matter in which the proposal to hold the show in their locality had been received by the ropeting, and assured them that nothing would be wanting on the part of the local committee to make the exhibition a success.— lt was agreed on the motion of Mr Sharp to alter the rules, so as to make the dite for receiving entries six day, not rhree days as now, before the show day. ft was also resolved that the 30th of September be the ond of the financial year instead of the 31st. December as heretofore, and tint the date for the election of the loc il committee be sometime in November in.-tead of January. Thk Codllv Moth.— Mr Hay moved that the secretary advertise the time for, and the manner of filing the bands on the apple tiees, with a view to destroy the codlin moth. He moved this because, although most people had read the remedies, they had probably forgotten details. — Some discussion ensued, Mr Walton suggesting that perhaps it would be better to publish a pamphlet on the matter, or to include the information in the new book of mle-. — Mr Hay then moved that the society take steps to disseminate the requisite information, and that a committee consisting of the secretary, Messrs Sandes, Sharp, Wells. Mason, and the mover be appointed, with power to act. This was seconded by Mr O'Neill, and carried unanimously. This concluded the business.
