TE AROHA.
[from our own correspondent. 1 Tk Ahoha, Wednesday. Thb local government question is still agit.iting tho mind of the residents. A petition bearing a considerable number of signatures will be presented at the sitting of the Piako County Council at Cambridge to-day, asking that body to sanction the forming of a town district, that form of government being, in the opinion of the petitioners, preferable to a borough at present. If the approval of the council is obtained the petition will be at once sent on to Wellington for presentation at the proper quarter. The publican's privilege at the race 3 to come off on Friday, was disposed of to Mr George Ebert, of the Palace Hotel, for £13 10s, and the refreshment booth to Mr T. Aitken for £6 lSs. Sinco Sunday the weather has been close, and a good deal of ram has fallen, but the sky is again clear.
