WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL. Annual Meeting.

Thk annual meeting of the council was held at the comity chambers, Hamilton, yesteiday, at noon. Present: Mew-i IVnmo^e, 3 ►anijjfli, Seddon, and Johnson. Tho Clerk said tho th\st business was the election of a chauman. Mr Seddon pioposed that Mi Primrose be re-elected chairman of the council. He '..lid tho council had been very ably .sened by that gentleman dining tho past two Mr Barugh, in seconding the nomination, paid a high compliment to Mr Piiinroso, whose conduct of tho council's business had been perfect. Mr l'limrose thanked tlie mover and sec<jnder for the compliment paid him, but he thought a change ad\ liable, and theiefoie moved that Mr Seddon be elected chaiiman. During the time Mr Seddon had occupied a .seat at that council he had taken a most intelligent int<ue.st in then pioceedings, and he (Mr Piimro<se) ua-> personally under many obligation^ to him. The motion wa-> >econded by Mr Johnson. Mr Seddon thanked Mr Pnnno^e, but failed to see how Ins election would advance the interest of the county m any way. He must, therefoie, lespectfully decline to be nominated.
