Sidney, November 19. Julian Solomons, recently appointed Chief Justice, resigned the appointment owing to the hostile attitude assumed towards him by his brother judges. The membeis of the bar have expressed themselves in favour of Judge Solomons retaining the Chief Justiceship.
Mklhouicnk, November 18. The match commences to morrow between the English Eleven and the eleven representing New South Wales. The local team is composed of McDonnell, Bannerman, Burton, Furnis, Gregory, Marr, Mather, Moses, Ogilvy, '] urney and Whiting. The latest news from the New Hebrides is that the French show no intention of leaving the island. The roads and bridges they have constructed present a permanent appearance. Mr Lalor, the speaker of the Assembly, has announced his intention of shortly retiring into private life.
