CRICKET Tuhikaramea C.C. v. Paterangi C.C.

Tfr second cricket match of the season in Waikato was played in one of Mr Germann's paddocks, Paterangi, on Saturday last, between the above clvb 5 , and resulted in a victory for the local team by si\ wickets and one run. Mr Crookes winning the toss elected to put TuhikavAmea in fir->t. They made 40, of which Mr W. Reid scored 20, playing a grand game; Mr Lang made 8. Paterangi started to bat just after lunch, and ran their score up to 50 before tha last wioket fell, Mr Crookes baring top score with 12; Mr Alexander, 11 ; and Mr (iermann, not out, 7. Tuhikaramea's second ventme only realised 15, the bowling of Me«srs Crookes and McFarlane being a trifle too much for them, the forn.er taking seven wiekeU for four runs, and the latter three wickets for eight runs, including a wide. Paterangi in their second innings *nly wanting 12 runs to win the match, got them with the loss of four wickets. Mr H. S. Kichd.ile, the Paterangi wicket-keeper, did good .service for his side. Tuhikai.imea unfortunately had no \ icket-keeper. Had they h;id a good one the result of thu match would hsue been diffoient. Messrs Meicer, Lang, imd McFailano made some excellent catches. The attendance of the public was very fair. — (A Correspondent.)
