Diu.on Bkll, Agont-Ueneral f(fr New Zealand, has effected a settlement csf the New Zealand cable di-jmle with Mr Pender, chairman of the Eastern Extension Company. Press messages between Australia and New Zealand will be charged at the rate of threepence per word. A Press Association message says : Sir F. D. Bell's proposal to the Eastern Evtension Company, re the cable dispute, requiiOb Sir Julius Vogel's approval. Tho Cable Company offer to defer the vhole subject till tho New Zealand Parliament ineet^ without a subsidy. They are also willing to make a reduction in Press messages.
